Travers-Wolfe Renovation Arts Inclusion

On November 21, 2017, TCNJ released a request for qualifications on the website

CaFÉ (, is the leading online application and adjudication system for managing calls for entry. CaFÉ is free for artists to upload their qualifications and artwork samples.

In January, 2018, our artist selection committee, including representatives from students, faculty, staff, the TCNJ Board of Trustees, the art gallery, campus planning, the architect of record, and the NJSCA reviewed 62 artist’s qualifications and selected the following artists to participate in the RFP process:

  • David Hess
  • Ilan Averbuch
  • Katie MacDonald and Kyle Schumann
  • Nobuho Nagasawa
  • Public Ground (Brissette/de St. Croix/Kaufman)
  • Osman Akan
  • Ray King
  • Softlab (Michael Szivos)

In April 2018, the selection committee reviewed 8 proposals.  4 artists were invited to a final on-campus interview:

  • Nobuho Nagasawa
  • Public Ground (Brissette/de St. Croix/Kaufman)
  • Ray King
  • Softlab (Michael Szivos)

Milestone Schedule

November 21, 2017     Artist Call Open on CallforEntry (Café)

January 2, 2018           Online Café Closed at midnight, EST.

February 7, 2018         Shortlisted Artists notified, sent RFP

February 21, 2018       Artist Orientation Meeting at TCNJ

February 28, 2018       Inquiry period ends at 3pm EST

March 6, 2018              Addendum 1 issued

March 27, 2018            Addendum 2 issued

April 11, 2018               Proposals Due by 2pm EST

April 19, 2018               Finalists Notified

May 23, 2018               Finalist Interviews

July, 2018                     Artist Contract Awarded

Spring, 2022                Art Installation (to be decided in consultation with the architect)
